Fontanafredda
On the lowest hills of Serralunga you can visit one of the most prestigious wineries of Piedmont, Tenimenti di Fontanafredda. The estate belonged to the King Vittorio Emanuele II and his descendants, the Mirafiori Counts; it includes a winery, vineyards and a huge, well-tended hundred-year-old park where you can enjoy relaxing walks up to the vineyards which surround the winery.
Fontanafredda was born in the heart of the Langhe: chronicles of the time relate that according to the “order of 17 June 1858″an area of 54 hectares belonging to Roggero Giacomo, son of Giovanni Battista in Serralunga, was registered as private estate of Vittorio Emanuele II King of Sardinia.
The history of Fontanafredda begun, but it did not begin wine-making as a business venture until 1878,thanks to the farsightedness of Emanuele Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, son of the king,a noble entrepreneur who devoted his life to the wine-making with a very modern approach.
