CLOSED – IT WILL OPEN AGAIN IN SPRING 2024
The museum
MIDA was realised thank to the Contribution of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino within the framework of Bando Esponente, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo and the
Municipality of Ceresole d’Alba, which provides the rooms of Madonna dei Prati Church.
Zhang Hong Mei. Red Woman. Acrylics and fabric on canvas.
The intention of the MIDA, under the supervision of internationally renowned curator Vincenzo Sanfo, is to bring to light female creativity, which is not always appreciated in its proper dimension. Thanks to the generous collaboration of women artists and private collectors, it has been possible to assemble a collection of important works, ranging from Berthe Morisot to Susanne Valadon, from Sonia Delaunay to Marina Abramovic, passing through Jenny Holzer, Carmen Gloria Morales, Beverly Pepper, Rabarama, the Chinese Zhang Hongmei, Xiao Lu, the Indian Washigha Rason Singh and many others. The exhibition showcases paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, installations and graphic works that narrate the complexity of the female creative world.
In addition, MIDA has become a diffused museum. It involves the town centre, specifically the courtyard of the Palazzo Comunale in via Regina Margherita 14, thanks to the placement of a number of plaques bearing the names of female artists who have not found space in the museum. The plaques are accompanied by special QR Codes through which the history of the artists can be discovered.
The project covers the entire town centre, with the placement of installations and sculptures in selected locations and then, each year, will expand with tiles and elements relating to artists not exhibited in the museum space but worthy of being remembered.
Louise Bourgeois (Parigi, 1911 – New York, 2010) and Ruchica Wason Sing, Untitled.
Dedicating a space to female creativity is a due act, revealing the uniqueness of creations that fuel modern art and beyond. A space that we owe to the history of art and as a tribute to women and equal opportunities.
The project benefits from the exhibition and exhibition organisation competence of our Association and Art Web Book of Turin.
MIDA flanks the previously existing
MuBatt – Ceresole Battle Museum. The combination of these two realities makes up a unique entity capable of giving Ceresole d’Alba a boost in terms of promotional tourism that can create a development that can only benefit the town’s territory but also the entire Roero, of which Ceresole d’Alba is one of the gateways.
